pool day essentials (yes, you already know)
Happy Saturday Ya'll. Yesterday was the first sunny and hot day here in Orlando, Fl in a week. So of course I took advantage of it and went to the pool. Since I have no idea what Florida wants to rain next, I don't even think Florida knows when Florida wants to rain, this was also a perfect opportunity to share my Pool Day Essentials with you. I fortunately live in an apartment complex that has a pool within walking distance of my apartment, so I usually just throw all my essentials in a bag and head out. Depending on how hot it is outside, depends on how long I am willing to stay...or really just how long I can handle being in the heat and not driving to Taco Bell for a Baja Blast....anyone else? No, just me? Okay moving on. Today I could only last an hour, but it was an hour well worth the heat. Not to mention I got a little tan (probably won't last long, but hey! It's something.) Enough about my hot pool day, let's get into my essentials.
I mean this is a given, but when I say sunglasses I mean the DARKEST SUNGLASSES YOU CAN FIND. So I discovered Freyers sunglasses not too long ago and they had these really cool cat eye framed ones that I fell in love with and they are so blacked out. I swear I could actually look up at the sky with these on and it not bother me at all. Once I got them in the mail and started to use them I fell in love. They feel so HIGH QUALITY, they don't move on my face when I start to sweat, and I have a bad habit of wearing sunglasses on my head to pull my hair away from my face. They are perfect for that too. They also come in this super chic leather case to protect the lens from getting scratched. Heaven knows I need that in my purse (you don't want to know all the random things inside of there.)
BUY MINE HERE:
Okay this is kind of a given, but I mean I bring it to the pool so I had to mention it. I love shopping for bathing suits, even though I rarely ever go to the beach. I know it's crazy. I was born and raised in Florida, and now I barely visit the beach. But I will say, I prefer the pool over the beach and I still love shopping for cute bikinis. One of my favorite places to shop for suits has been and forever will be Forever 21. I love how affordable they are and how many cute styles they have for each body type. Another place I love is Target. At the least the Target's here in FL sell bikinis all year round because of our warm weather, but anyhow they are still so cute and still affordable. I really love that Target always has the basic, solid color ones and some featured designers as well. If you're looking for a new swim suit this summer season I highly suggest checking out both of those places first.
#3. SUNSCREEN.... DUH
This is a given but most people skip this step. I can't tell you how important it is to take care of you skin, especially from the sun. Did you know that over 90% of the visible changes attributed to skin aging is actually caused by the sun? Now, I'm not saying if you want to look younger and never age to become a Vampire, but wow 90%? That's a huge number. Did you also know that exposure to the sun can cause pre-cancerous and cancerous skin lesions, freckles, and discolored spots called molted pigmentation? Wow. Let me tell you something, I don't put sunscreen on my face just when I'm at the pool, beach or amusement park. I put it ALL OVER MY BODY EVERYDAY. I want to look at young as possible for as long as possible. And if it's up to me (and it is) I want to stay away from anything that can cause skin cancer. With that being said, I take this very seriously. My go-to brand to protect my skin is COOLA. I love how effective their products are and trust their ingredients. I use their BB cream sunscreen for my face and set it with the Make-Up Setting spray with SPF. I also make sure to protect my lips using their chapsticks. Check out their website for more products.
This is obviously so you can tune out the loud neighbors or the screaming kids at the pool. Unless you're lucky enough to have your own pool, or access to a private pool, but my pool is shared and I will NEVER lay out without a good pair of headphones. I specifically like the kind that wrap around my ears. I feel like they hurt my ears less, feel comfortable, and stay on even if I'm sweating. Hey, it's Florida. We sweat even when we try not to. I also love having headphones not only to listen to music but to listen to a podcast or audiobook. Since holding a book and squinting my eyes from the sun can be uncomfortable, this is an awesome way to read a book I love or catch up on some amazing sermons.
If you're anything like me then you know a good pool day is not complete without a few photos. I love documenting time in which I just stop and relax. Because they are so rare, I love sharing them afterwards and how that time benefited me and my week. I usually don't haul around a huge DSLR, my iPhone is good enough most of the time. If you're with friends and loved ones, then this is even better. Snap some cute selfies, Boomarangs, or flat lays and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you so much for reading all about my Pool Day Essentials. Special thanks to Freyers and Coola for the amazing products. Don't forget to click their products if you want to purchase the items mentioned. Thanks again and see you in my next post.
As Told By,
